Engineers Without Borders-USA (EWB)

Ms. McKim, as the representative of MEC is proud to have served as the professional mentor and advisor to the EWB student chapter at the University of Maryland, College Park Baan Bo Mai, Thailand project. The team recently completed the design and construction of a gravity fed water system that is now serving a Hill Tribe and Orphanage in north-western Thailand.

Chair of the National EWB Health and Safety committee. As chair, Ms. McKim is the leader of a committee that will establish a complete H&S program including the creation of:

  • H&S protocols
  • Training requirements and programs
  • A process for reviewing projects and planned site assessments to ensure the safety of students and professionals traveling abroad on EWB missions
  • A mentoring program in which students and professionals can interact with experienced safety professionals

Confidential Client

Conducting research to investigate the release of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB’s) into a River in western Massachusetts. The goal of the investigation is to determine and document whether or not the potentially responsible party knew they were releasing PCB’s to the river, and if so, when they knew, and what they did to try to stop the release.
